NICK COHEE, CFP®

Financial Advisor

I come to Legacy Wealth Planning by way of the ski industry—a lifelong passion that I continue to share with many of my clients. I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance from the University of Utah, where I was a two-time NCAA First Team All-American skier. I grew up in the Reno/Lake Tahoe Basin and feel fortunate to still call this incredible region home.

I take pride in building lasting relationships grounded in trust, transparency, and personalized advice. My goal is to empower every client with a thoughtful, customized financial plan that supports their short- and long-term goals—whether it’s college planning, retirement, insurance and wealth preservation, or creating a legacy for future generations.

I’m proud of the path that’s led me here—both professionally and personally. As a competitive skier, you win some and you lose most, but it’s in the ups and downs that you build true resilience. That mindset has shaped how I approach challenges, support my clients, and continue growing and learning in this profession. I'm especially proud of the life my wife and I are building together as we raise our two boys and explore the mountains, trails, and open spaces of northern Nevada and California. The values I bring to my work—discipline, perseverance, and appreciation for the journey—are the same ones I strive to model at home.

Most people think that all financial planners are “certified,” but this isn’t true. Anyone can call himself or herself a “financial planner.” Only those who have fulfilled the certification and renewal requirements of CFP Board can display the CFP® certification marks.   Individuals certified by CFP Board have taken the extra step to demonstrate their professionalism by voluntarily submitting to the rigorous CFP® certification process that includes demanding education, examination, experience, and ethical requirements. These standards are called “the four E’s,” and they are four important reasons why the financial planning practitioner you select should display the CFP® certification marks. When selecting a financial planner, you need to feel confident that the person you choose to help you plan for your future is competent and ethical. The CFP® certification provides that sense of security by allowing only those who meet the following requirements the right to use the CFP® certification marks.
